Reflexology

In addition to my work as a gigging musician I am also a fully qualified Practitioner of Reflexology

What is reflexology?

Reflexology is a pressure therapy applied to the feet. Essentially it's like a massage, but there are more than 5000 nerve endings in the soles of the feet, so the job of the reflexologist is to target specific areas, and work on these in order to generate a positive reaction that may be felt throughout the body.

The ancient therapies were based on the idea that by the application of pressure and the massaging of certain zones, a definite effect is transferred to other parts of the body.

William Fitzgerald was the first person to create a chart, dividing up the body into ten zones, and undoubtedly it is this chart that inspired and heralded the new wave of reflexology as we understand it today. In addition to Fitzgerald, there were other physicians of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who were utilizing reflex treatments (including the Russian, V.M. Bekhterev (1857 - 1957) who coined the term 'Reflexology' in 1917).

The Egyptians perceived the human body as a symphony of vibrations in which the internal organs represented an intricate orchestra and could be played by stimulation of points in the hands and feet.

Can reflexology heal me?

I am often asked if reflexology is really and honestly capable of improving poor health, be it back pain, headaches, problems with internal organs, sore joints etc.  My response is often to talk about the long way that reflexology has gone in alleviating pain in my own body.

It would be remiss of me to declare that reflexology is able to heal you of a particular ill. However, there is now much evidence that has been gathered over more than six decades that quantifies the claim made by reflexology that it can heal in some cases, and will almost always bring improvement in most cases.

Depending on the particular ill that one is suffering with, a course of reflexology treatments is more than likely to, at the very least, bring about a good measure of relief, and possibly alleviate the pain altogether, which has been my own personal experience.
