Reflexology

Drumming is an ancient art form and people from all walks of life do it.  From every tribe and tongue, colour and creed, style and sex, shape and size: PEOPLE DRUM.

I love teaching people how to play rhythm. This might be a single drum or cymbal using just 1 hand, or a full drum kit using all four limbs and the mouth.  What particularly interests me though, is helping people to unlock their own natural rhythm.

I teach on the full drum kit (acoustic and electric) for both left handed and right handed players.  This can be anything from basic rock beats to hip hop, funk, metal and new metal, double kick grooves and jazz.

I also play and teach various hand and beater percussion instruments including congas, bongos and timbales, in addition to miscellaneous percussion including tambourines and bells etc.  I could help you to groove, solo and ad-lib on these instruments.

I had the privilege of teaching the technique class on the full time course at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford a while back, and through this discovered alot about developing technique with groove/feel.  I'd love to help you develop your technique if that's what you need.

Let me help you learn to play, unlock your natural rhythm, reach your goals, unleash your dreams, find a way to the heart.

I am more than willing to travel to your home, and the cost is reasonable, so please do feel free to contact me for more details.

I also teach in local Schools and am currently developing links with more primary, junior and secondary schools across the area.

It really is never too late to start.  My youngest pupil to date was a 4 year old, but I also taught a student who started as a complete beginner in his fifties.  If you can move your hands and/or feet then you have the potential to play the drums.

I had a great time working at DrumTech, and learned some wild stuff under the superb inspiration of Francis Seriau, Paul Elliott and Bosco D'Oliveiro to name just 3, but thanks to all the people who made my time there such a great experience.

I'll never forget the moment I stood up to introduce The Shaun Baxter Jazz Metal gig at the Wembley Show, and suddenly realised I hadn't got a clue what was coming or how best to introduce the band!

I spent a while working at ACM (The Academy of Contemporary Music) in Guildford.  I learned heaps there even as a teacher, and want to thank Bruce Dickinson (now Managing Director at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, see www.bimm.co.uk ) and Pete Reily for their inspiration, James Porter for his friendship, and the students I taught that made my life hell!  No, actually you guys rocked my world.  Cheers!!
